Torah Portion #11 – Vayigash “And he drew near” – December 19th 2025
Can you remember a time when you didn't know who Yeshua was and then suddenly you did? This week's Torah Portion, Vayigash “and he drew near”, is from Genesis 44. And Joseph says to his brother, "Ani Yosef ha'od Avichai" "I'm Joseph, your brother is my father alive?.” He's inquiring after Jacob who is back in Israel. Think about Joseph's journey. He goes from the pit to Potiphar's house, to the prison, to the palace. If you track that journey, it becomes a picture of a crown. Joseph is raised up next to Pharaoh. He's a leader in Egypt and he's going to make a provision for all of the Israelites. Wow! Remember, at first, the sons of Jacob do not recognize Joseph, just like most of my people, do not recognize Yeshua. But when he comes back a second time, we will see him. And Jacob is allowed to rest and we will rest in him for a thousand years as he rules.
