What Does It Really Mean to “Let Go and Let God”?

Myles Weiss

This week’s Torah portion, Behar, reveals a powerful biblical rhythm of rest, release, and trust. From the Sabbath day to the Shmita year and ultimately the Year of Jubilee, God was teaching His people to loosen their grip, trust His provision, and live in freedom instead of striving.

The Jubilee was a time of restoration—debts were released, land was returned, and people were reminded that true freedom comes from the Lord. Even today, God still calls us to surrender control, trust His timing, and celebrate the freedom found in Him.
